Research Aim: The research aims to make an in-depth analysis of the fashion supply chain, which encompasses fashion product manufacturers and fashion retailers. The effect of the competition among retailers and manufacturers on developing environmentally friendly (sustainable) “Green Products” is aimed to be analysed.
The study further aims to analyse the challenges related to introducing new sustainable Apparel products in the market. The challenges include the higher manufacturing prices for the development of sustainable products (often due to complex raw materials supply chains) and the existing user preferences.
Topic 32: Analysis of the Attitudes and Intentions of Consumers towards Online Fashion Renting Retails
Research Aim: The research aims to evaluate consumers' perception of online fashion renting services. The two fundamental theories, namely the “Theory of Reasoned Actions” and the “Theory of Expectancy-Value Approach”, have been analysed during the study.
To compile data for this research, an online survey is conducted from consumers of the UK that use online fashion rental services. Particularly, the online clothing rental services, which provide access to popular fashion brands without having to spend a lot of money, are focussed during the study.
The various factors that affect the attitude and intention of the consumer in online fashion rental services will be determined in the proposed research.
Topic 33: Studying the Effect of Fashion on the Environment - Is there a Need to Change?
Research Aim: The research aims to identify the various environmental impacts of the manufacturing and consumption of different fashion products on the environment. The total waste produced by the textile factories and the effect of the improper disposal of this waste is discussed along with suggestions to reduce the amount of waste produced. The fashion supply chain and various factors affecting factory-derived pollutants' production are explained and analysed in this paper.
Topic 34: Observing the Implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Fashion Industry
Research Aim: The research aims to observe the overall impact of implementing AI-based technology in the fashion industry. Through AI, fashion retailers and practitioners could predict what people will want to buy and wear in the future and map clothes onto clients’ bodies. They would be able to monitor the user activities while shopping and anticipate their sentiments to know what kind of products they prefer to buy and ignore. All this data could be shared and processed using big-data analytical techniques.
The attitude and response of the consumers towards implementing these new technologies are observed. A “Technology Acceptance Model” is used to form a conceptual model to test the consumer’s attitude towards AI implementation in the fashion industry. Data for this research is collected qualitatively through the use of online surveys.
