Step 1: Idea and Topic Formulation
Before you begin writing, you need a clear, original research idea. Choose a topic that:
- Solves a specific problem or fills a research gap
- Is feasible in terms of data, methodology, and time constraints
- Has relevance and impact in your discipline
Premier Dissertations can help you with topic generation and crafting a proposal to ensure your research idea is well-grounded.
Step 2: Literature Review and Research Planning
The next step is to conduct a literature review and research planning.
Once you have your topic, undergo a thorough literature review to;
- Understand what has already been done
- Identify dominant theories, methods, and gaps
- Position your study so that it contributes something new
Also, plan your research design: data sources, sampling strategy, instruments, and any ethical approvals needed.
Our team provides literature review writing and research methodology guidance to help set you up for rigorous research.
Step 3: Journal Selection
Choosing the right journal is an important step in publishing your research paper.
For this, you need to consider;
- Scope and audience of the journal
- Indexing (Scopus, Web of Science, etc.)
- Publication model (open access vs subscription)
- Impact factor and submission turnaround times
- Journal guidelines (word count, formatting, referencing style)
Premier Dissertations offers journal matching services where we recommend journals suited to your topic and help ensure your manuscript aligns with their guidelines.
Step 4: Manuscript Preparation
Another significant step is the careful preparation of the manuscript.
Key components include;
- Title & Abstract – clear, descriptive, summarising the major findings
- Introduction – research context, problem statement, objectives
- Literature Review – critically engaged with sources
- Methods – detailed and replicable
- Results – tables, figures, charts, well explained
- Discussion – interpret results, compare with existing work, limitations
- Conclusion – summary, implications, suggestions for future research
- References/Error-Checking – referencing style, citation accuracy
Formatting is crucial: font, tables or figures as required, supplementary materials.
Premier Dissertations can provide manuscript writing help, proofreading and formatting services so your draft is polished.
Step 5: Ethics, Originality and Compliance
This step ensures your work respects academic integrity.
- Obtain ethical approval if research involves human or animal subjects or sensitive data
- Use originality/similarity checking tools (like Turnitin)
- Declare conflicts of interest or funding sources
- Follow data protection laws and consent where required
Premier Dissertations helps you ensure compliance and originality, with all work checked and supported ethically.
Step 6: Submission Process
There are points to note before submitting a research paper.
When submitting;
- Follow the target journal’s author guidelines exactly (format, cover letter, required documents)
- Prepare a cover letter that highlights your research question, novelty, and why the journal audience will find it valuable
- Include all required supplementary files (data, figures, tables, appendices)
We guide you in preparing strong cover letters and matching your submission package properly.
Step 7: Peer Review and Revision
Peer review and revision come after paper submission.
- Expect feedback from reviewers: these may require substantial revisions
- Receive reviewer comments, respond point by point in a response letter
- Revise your manuscript to address the feedback, clarify arguments, and re-run analyses if needed
Premier Dissertations offers peer review response support, helping you interpret feedback and revise confidently.
Step 8: Final Acceptance and Publication
Once the peer review and revisions are complete, the paper must undergo final acceptance and publication.
- The journal may issue proofs for you to check the layout and minor corrections
- Confirm your final acceptance notice
- Once published, plan for post-publication activities: indexing, sharing, and maybe promoting your research
Our publishing services also guide you in these final steps, so nothing gets overlooked.
