Public Administration Dissertation Topics 2026-27: 92 Researcher-Crafted Ideas for UK Students
December 16, 2025
You know the feeling. You type a prompt into ChatGPT, and seconds later, you have a neat, grammatically correct draft. On paper, it looks perfect. Then, you read it again. Something feels off. The sentences are correct, but do not sound like you. Tone is flat. Phrasing is generic. Ideas explain but do not argue.
You might even think, "My lecturer will spot that I did not write this myself."
You are not alone. Thousands of students face this. That is why learning how to humanise ChatGPT writing is essential, not to cheat, not to submit AI text blindly, but to turn it into work that reflects your thinking, voice, and academic style. This guide will take you step by step to transform AI drafts into human-like essays safely and ethically.

Why Humanising AI Writing Matters
AI is fast, but universities do not grade speed; they grade thinking, argument, and engagement.
Markers notice essays that;
- Lack critical thinking or argument
- Repeat the same generic phrases
- Ignore the lecture or course context
- Sound robotic or impersonal
Humanising AI writing shows ownership. It demonstrates understanding, effort, and insight, things AI cannot replace. For structured guidance, visit our Dissertation Writing Services page.
Step 1: Treat ChatGPT as a Draft, Not a Writer
Biggest mistake? Thinking AI output is submission-ready. It is not. Think of ChatGPT like rough lecture notes, useful for organising ideas, not finished arguments.
Tip: Tell yourself, "This is a draft, nothing more."
Accepting imperfection first makes editing easier and ensures your voice comes through. For advanced strategies, see our Humanise AI-written Dissertation guide.
Step 2: Work in Small, Manageable Sections
Big AI paragraphs are overwhelming. Humanising works best paragraph by paragraph.
- Focus on one idea at a time
- Ask: “Do I actually agree with this?”
- Rewrite in your own words.
Slower, deliberate edits create a natural flow. Quick, mechanical edits still read AI-generated.
Step 3: Add Academic and Personal Context (Crucial Step)
This is where AI drafts become yours uniquely.
Ask yourself for each paragraph;
- Does this link to lectures, readings, or case studies I know?
- Can I add a personal example or insight?
- Would I phrase this differently if writing from scratch?
Even a single personalised sentence per paragraph transforms the text.
Example:
AI Draft: “Motivation plays a key role in academic performance.”
Humanised Version: “In our second-year psychology lectures, motivation was linked to persistence. Students with clear goals often stay on top of assignments, which shows why setting milestones matters.”
For citation guidance, use Purdue OWL for proper referencing and essay structure.
Step 4: Fix Tone and Sentence Rhythm
AI loves predictable, balanced sentences. Humans? Not so much.
How to humanise;
- Read aloud to catch unnatural flow
- Shorten long sentences
- Combine choppy sentences
- Swap stiff words for simpler alternatives
- Use occasional short sentences for emphasis
Example;
AI: “This demonstrates the importance of considering multiple perspectives when evaluating the topic.”
Humanised: “This matters because the topic cannot be understood from just one perspective.”
Step 5: Use Editing Tools Carefully
Editing tools help, but do not replace human judgment:
- Grammarly, clarity, and tone only
- QuillBot rephrases tricky sentences selectively
- Zotero / Mendeley, ensure citation accuracy
Avoid one-click “humanisers”; they often replace one AI pattern with another.
Step 6: Accept Small Imperfections
Real student writing is not perfect. Humanised AI drafts should not be either:
- Minor style variations
- Slight tone shifts
- Natural pauses and emphasis
Ironically, perfection triggers AI detection. Let your writing breathe.
Step 7: Add Mini Anecdotes and Examples
Marketers notice when content is relatable. Small examples = human touch;
- Mention lectures or discussions
- Reference real projects
- Include brief personal reflections
Example;
"When I ran my experiment, the results differed from the lecture notes. It made me rethink my approach."

- Ignoring the marking criteria
Humanising works only if you actively engage with the content.

- Added examples or personal explanations?
- Argument clear, not just descriptive?
- Are sources accurately cited and properly cited?
- Does the essay reflect course knowledge?
If yes, then safe to submit.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ Schema Ready)
Q1: Can ChatGPT writing be fully humanised?
Not entirely. Thoughtful editing, tone adjustments, and personal input make it very close to authentic student writing.
Q2: Will humanised AI text pass AI detection tools?
Usually yes. Personal examples, varied sentence lengths, and context reduce detectable AI patterns.
Q3: Is using ChatGPT ethical for essays?
Yes, if used for brainstorming and drafting. Students remain responsible for final content and must follow university policies.
Q4: What’s the safest way to use ChatGPT?
Generate ideas, then rewrite in your own words. Add academic context, examples, and references.
Q5: How long does it take to humanise AI writing?
Depends on essay length and your editing pace. Usually 30–60 minutes per 1,000 words for thorough humanisation.
